Cody Laboratories, Inc. is seeking the following position for a Chemist for our office in Cody, Wyoming:
Research and Development Scientist
Responsible for the research, development, and optimization of chemistry and reaction pathways for APIs, intermediates and final drug products. Performs complex laboratory activities with limited supervision including planning and performing individual experiments and new tasks. Analyzes and interprets experimental results and designs subsequent well-controlled experiments to optimize scientific development; perform troubleshooting; and conduct extensive analyses of research and development initiatives. R&D Scientist has detailed knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within relevant fields and adapts or modifies experimental methods to achieve scientific objectives for application in industrial settings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Research, develop, and optimize the chemistry and reaction pathways for new or existing APIs, drug products and intermediates. Take the leading role for R&D activities in cross-functional project teams for New Product Development projects. Interact effectively with Project Management, Process Engineering, QC, Manufacturing, QA and other internal and external groups in all phases of projects. Prioritize and schedule chemistry and reaction pathway development activities to meet project timelines. Plan, execute, and document R&D projects applying Q11 guidelines according to company rules. Write Scientific Development reports providing all necessary information for other project team members and subsequent project phases. Prepare chemistry sections for regulatory filings. Provide troubleshooting and technical assistance for Process Engineering and Manufacturing. Ensure work is carried out in accordance with cGMP, OSHA and Cody Laboratories' requirements, including safety policies. Assure the R&D laboratory has supplies and organization to perform the assigned work. Research in the area of metal organic catalyst and knowledge or background through course work or experience in chemical engineering.
Special Requirements - Qualifications:
R&D Scientist has a detailed knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within relevant fields and adapts or modifies experimental methods to achieve scientific objectives for application in industrial settings. Uses metal organic catalyst and chemical engineering skills to develop new processes and new products in line with the growth strategy of the company. This activity requires interfacing with management and project teams, reading technical literature, planning and conducting experiments. Ability to liaise with all levels of management and cross-functional project teams. Effective administration skills, including ability to write protocols, design of experiments (DOEs) and other technical documents. Quality management looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Safety and security actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly. Master’s Degree in Chemistry or foreign equivalent is acceptable.
