Title: Chemical Lab Specialist
Function: Laboratory, Region: USA, Location: Cheyenne, WY

Works closely with
the other Chemical Lab Specialists and plant to ensure the smooth and effective
operation of the production facility and lab. The
Chemical Lab Specialist performs routine analyses of product shipment samples,
storage samples, and plant process stream samples in order to assure quality
and process control.
Purpose
External Customers: Nitrogen/oxidizer products and CO2
customers.
Internal Customers: Provides laboratory and analytical
support to operations, engineering, and maintenance processes and personnel.
Technical Competencies
Education: BS in Chemistry,
or related scientific discipline with applicable experience.
Experience: Analytical
laboratory experience is preferred
Technical: Experience
with wet chemistry methods, chromatography (HPLC and GC), spectroscopy, and
other laboratory instrumentation.
The completion of a
college level analytical and instrumentation course is highly desirable.

plant in order to support them with laboratory analysis. Must be able to become
an expert on laboratory instrumentation and processes.
Other: A strong commitment to laboratory
safety, a basic understanding of laboratory standard operating procedures, and
good laboratory practices.

Essential Functions
Ensure
compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as
applicable acts and regulations

run daily laboratory samples
-GC, HPLC, Carl Fisher, Particle Size Analysis, Wet Chemistry

Lab instrument maintenance
-Perform preventative maintenance on
laboratory instruments
-Perform routine maintenance on
laboratory instruments
-Troubleshoot issues with laboratory
instruments and work with I&E and external contractors to fix
instrumentation issues
-Calibrate instruments

Administrative duties
-OT and on call coordination, Inventory, Supply ordering, Update and develop laboratory SOP’s
-BEx initiative support (5S in lab,
etc.), CO2 coordination, Act as a resource for all audits and inspections involving laboratory processes

Special projects as assigned
Other
duties
-Vacation coverage for other Chem Lab
Specialist
-Rotating on-call responsibility
-Help discover developments in new lab
technology and methods
Decision Making Authority:
Ability to recommend lab equipment and vendors
